Who we are
This privacy policy explains how Red Boots Productions handles personal information when you visit our website, enquire about our film, video and production services, or introduce yourself as a potential member of our Collective.
Red Boots Productions is responsible for deciding how personal information submitted through these website forms is used. We are based in the United Kingdom, with the team operating across Greater Manchester and the West Midlands.
For privacy questions, or to request postal contact details, email info@redbootsproductions.co.uk.
Information we collect
When you use our Contact or Work With Us forms, we collect the information you provide, which may include:
- Your name and email address.
- Your company or organisation, the type of project and details of an enquiry.
- Your role on set, experience, interests and other information in a Collective introduction.
- Information you choose to send when corresponding with us directly.
Our hosting and form-delivery services may also process limited technical data such as IP address, browser details and submission time for website operation, security and spam prevention.
Please do not include health information, identity documents or other sensitive personal information in our forms unless we have specifically agreed a suitable way to receive it.
Why we use your information
We use personal information to:
- Read and respond to enquiries, discuss projects, prepare proposals and arrange production work.
- Consider requests to join or collaborate with our Collective and contact relevant contributors about potential opportunities.
- Maintain website reliability, detect spam and protect our services.
- Keep records needed for an active project or to meet applicable legal obligations.
We do not automatically add people who submit these forms to a marketing mailing list.
Our lawful bases
Under UK data protection law, our lawful basis depends on why we are using the information:
- Steps before a contract or performance of a contract: responding to a prospective client who asks about services, and managing agreed work where applicable.
- Legitimate interests: responding to general enquiries and Collective introductions, considering opportunities, maintaining business correspondence, and protecting our website against misuse. Our interests are in operating a production business and communicating with people who contact us.
- Legal obligation: keeping information when the law requires us to do so.
Where a different purpose requires consent, we will ask for it separately. We do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects solely through automated processing.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and related correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, consider prospective work or collaboration, and follow up on ongoing discussions. We decide whether to retain a record based on whether the enquiry remains active, whether a project or working relationship follows, and whether a legal or record-keeping obligation applies. Information that is no longer needed should be deleted.
Our third-party providers have their own technical retention periods. For example, Web3Forms states that form submission data may be retained for up to three years unless deleted sooner or a shorter period applies.
International processing and security
Some of the services listed above may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where international transfers occur, we look to the relevant providers' contractual and legal safeguards. Web3Forms describes the safeguards it uses, including contractual clauses, in its privacy information.
We use HTTPS for the website and form submissions and take reasonable steps to limit who can access correspondence. No online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so please avoid sending particularly sensitive information through public website forms.
Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you rights to access your personal information, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, restrict processing, and request portability where applicable.
Your right to object: you may object to the use of your personal information where we rely on legitimate interests. We will consider your request under applicable law.
If processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent. To make a request or ask a question, email info@redbootsproductions.co.uk. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can also complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Changes to this policy
We may update this page if our forms, services or data-handling practices change. We will update the date shown above when we make material changes.
For any questions about this policy, please contact info@redbootsproductions.co.uk.
